Laconia 2010: June 12 - 20 2010

” This year we have worked hard to increase awareness of this Rally nationwide with a new marketing campaign, new motorcycle shows throughout the year and a brand new website to encourage more new people and new events to Laconia Motorcycle Week. This year marks the 87th Anniversary (working our way to the 90th!) and there is still plenty to do: Here’s some of what you can expect at this year’s Rally – so make sure you mark your calendar: Kickoff your week by participating in the 4th Annual Peter Makris Memorial Ride and any other great charity ride that occurs on Saturday. Make sure you set time aside on Sunday for attending the 2nd Annual Toy Run Parade to the New Hampshire Motor Speedway where you can check out the 87th Loudon Classic! The Ride to the Sky up Mount Washington will once again be open for “Bikes Only” on Monday and Thursday of Motorcycle Week. Plan a day at the Hillclimb/Drag Races at Gunstock Mountain Resort on Wednesday. You also want to make sure to set aside time for all of the bike shows, swap meets, blessings and all the street action on Lakeside Avenue. International Female Ride Day occurs every year on the first Friday of May. Its a day for women motorcyclists, worldwide, inviting women to join together on their motorcycles, not matter the type, size or style and –JUST RIDE!

INTERNATIONAL FEMALE RIDE DAY was created by MOTORESS International’s Founder and Director, Vicki Gray with the aim to HIGHLIGHT the many numbers of women actively enjoying motorcycling; HEIGHTEN awareness of women riders, and INSPIRE those who have not yet taken it up. Each participant is a role model for women in motorcycling!

This day each year expands country by country, rider by rider each year in hopes of a synchronized,celebrated day just for female riders–WORLDWIDE!

It’s time for a long over due thank you to the gang at Rice Paddy and this new blog its the perfect place for this sort of thing. I’d especially like to thank  Tom the owner, this summer at Vintage days he rolled out the best Ohioan hospitality, and fed our whole gang on our first night there with at truly  gourmet BBQ with all the fixings. Thanks Tom it sure made our first day, run a little smoother and took a little stress of my plate after Traveling 12 hours in convoy from up state NY. I’d like to reciprocate a BBQ for your team on July 24th 2009 at AMA Vintage Days. The Old Bike Barn team will be in attendance at 2009 AMA Vintage Day’s again, and a day earlier this year to get setup.

The Rice Paddy has parted out over 1,000 motorcycles over the past few years they have parts in stock for even rare bikes,     Old Bike Barn covers new parts for vintage bikes but these guys have the stuff you just can’t get anymore. Check them out at www.ricepaddy.com
